Revised ESO Guidelines discussions at Karolinska Stroke Update

The Karolinska Stroke Update series of meetings started in 1996 to discuss recent results from clinical trials on stroke therapy and to consent on their implementation into clinical practice. The consensus statements from the six meetings until 2006 include several treatment strategies within stroke prevention, acute stroke therapy and rehabilitation. From 2008 the meeting will be integrated with the revision of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) guidelines (previously EUSI guidelines). Karolinska Stroke Update is held bi-annually in Stockholm, Sweden. More than 350 delegates participated in the last Karolinska Stroke Update in 2006.

We will discuss several important issues on acute stroke therapy and prevention. The discussions will advice the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) on revisions of ESO guidelines. New ESO guidelines for management of subarachnoid haemorrhage will also be presented at the meeting.
